From early childhood, I can remember how important it was to my parents for my brothers, sisters and I to learn a musical instrument. It thrilled them when I took up the trumpet in the second grade, and they supported me in every way. For nearly four decades, I’ve had the opportunity to play with hundreds of groups, with diverse musical styles. But I tell you... nothing compares to playing the old hymns that I grew up with in church. They are my favorites and bring me the most joy. God gave me the gift of a “musical ear” and the ability to play from the heart. Playing songs for His glory lets me express my thankfulness for all His blessings.
This CD is a collection of songs that are near to my heart, arranged in a robust “big band” flavor - another musical style that I love. It has been a blessing to work on this project with incredible musicians. Most I’ve played with in college, local bands or at Peoples Church in Fresno, California. Some friendships go back 30 years. They are all pros in their own right. We are a family – a brotherhood of musicians – and I have tremendous respect for them all. It’s my hope that you will enjoy listening to these compositions as much as we’ve enjoyed making the music. God bless...
